The Cost Hub within the Group Finance Platform of DBS plays a crucial role in implementing and delivering the system strategies of the Group Strategic Cost Management team, such as Enterprise-wide Cost Allocation and Intra-group Billing. It focuses on improving the existing finance systems architecture and related systems and processes across the DBS Group, handling large and complex data sets from various product systems of the bank. The candidate must have a solid understanding of the diverse businesses within the Consumer Banking Group, Institutional Banking Group, and Treasury and Markets. A key responsibility of the hub is to ensure the quality and report-worthiness of finance data across the organization. The data team within the hub is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the bank's finance data asset from its source to its point of consumption. The incumbent must possess strong knowledge of Management Information Systems (MIS), a deep understanding of banking processes and operations, exposure to finance systems, and the ability to see the big picture while delivering outcomes within tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility includes comprehending suitable data sources, analysing them, and ensuring their appropriateness for use as data drivers in the enterprise-wide allocation of costs.
- It includes interpreting trends and patterns in complex data sets and collaborating with various business and finance stakeholders to seek confirmation and approval.
- Troubleshoot data issues for resolution by working with upstream data providers and other stakeholders.
- Define transformation rules / ETL logic to align with target data standards.
- Provide support to users and assist business unit controllers in translating data requirements into deliverables
- Work with a team comprising of businesses, business analysts, process subject matter experts, technology leads carrying out current state analysis, suggest process improvements, establish and facilitate resolution to data quality issues.
- Leverage technical capabilities to drive the development, evolution, and implementation of data enhancements, that will enable self-service by data consumers.
- Continuously evaluate data quality gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities; provide recommendations for improvement
- Implement data governance considering data quality metrics, metadata, lineage, data access rights and business definitions.
- Establish suitable working groups of stakeholders to drive targeted discussions and business outcomes.
- Ensure technical solutions provided are appropriate and support process changes.
- Ensure successful delivery of enhancements working with our tech partners encapsulating preparation of user requirements, solutioning, testing, implementation, live verification, and documentation
- Maintain a robust communication between all the stakeholders to ensure coordination and delivery of task/activities.
Requirements
- Degree in Banking, or a person with reasonably good Banking experience having worked on projects or processes involving data analytics. Alternatively 8 to 10 years relevant experience in project management and data analysis in financial services industry
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Good knowledge of banking products, general ledger, finance processes
- Strong presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills
