The Role
Role Overview
As an Automation Tester specializing in Nightwatch, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated tests to ensure the quality and functionality of web applications. You will collaborate closely with development and QA teams to create and maintain a robust test automation framework, identify bugs, and enhance the overall testing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Automation Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Nightwatch.js.
- Create comprehensive test plans and test cases based on requirements and technical specifications.
- Ensure automated tests cover all necessary scenarios, including functional, regression, and performance testing.
- Framework Management:
- Set up, configure, and maintain the Nightwatch test automation framework.
- Enhance the framework by integrating additional tools and libraries to support testing needs.
- Ensure the test automation framework is scalable, maintainable, and reusable.
- Test Execution and Reporting:
- Execute automated test suites and analyze results to identify defects and areas for improvement.
- Report and document defects accurately, providing detailed steps to reproduce and relevant logs/screenshots.
- Work with development teams to resolve issues and verify fixes.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product managers to understand requirements and provide feedback on testability and quality.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Communicate test results, coverage, and progress to stakeholders clearly and effectively.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously review and improve test strategies, methodologies, and processes.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in test automation and Nightwatch.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior automation testers, sharing knowledge and promoting best practices.
- Integration and CI/CD:
- Integrate automated tests with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Ensure that automated tests are run consistently and reliably as part of the CI/CD process.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to test integration and execution in CI/CD environments.
- Documentation:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for the test automation framework, test cases, and test scripts.
- Ensure that all test artifacts are up-to-date and accessible to the team.
- Quality Assurance:
- Conduct code reviews and peer reviews for test scripts to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
- Collaborate with QA team members to define and implement quality assurance best practices.
Ideal Profile
- You have at least 3 years experience, ideally within a Quality Assurance / Testing role.
- You have working knowledge of NIGHTWATCH
- You pay strong attention to detail and deliver work that is of a high standard
- You are a strong team player who can manage multiple stakeholders
- You are adaptable and thrive in changing environments
