Job Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Audit Assistant with strong knowledge of Goods and Services Tax (GST) regulations. The ideal candidate will support the audit team in conducting audits and ensuring compliance with GST requirements. This role requires a thorough understanding of GST laws, the ability to perform reconciliations, and effective communication with various departments for accurate tax reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
GST Compliance Support:
Assist in the preparation and filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, etc.).
Help in the reconciliation of input tax credit (ITC) with GSTR-2A/2B and other relevant records.
Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all GST-related transactions and filings.
Audit Assistance:
Support the audit team in reviewing financial documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with GST regulations.
Assist in performing GST audits, including examining client records for adherence to tax laws and regulations.
Participate in internal and external audit processes related to GST compliance.
Tax Analysis & Reporting:
Collect and analyze data to identify potential areas of non-compliance or improvement in GST processes.
Assist in preparing audit reports, summaries, and presentations regarding GST-related findings.
Maintain and update tax-related databases and spreadsheets for audit purposes.
Liaison with Departments:
Assist in responding to queries from clients or government authorities related to GST.
Continuous Learning & Development:
Stay up-to-date with changes in GST laws, rules, and notifications.
Provide support to senior auditors in research and the development of new tax strategies or audit procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in GST compliance, taxation, or auditing.
Strong understanding of Goods and Services Tax (GST) laws and regulations.
Proficiency in using accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks) and GST filing platforms.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Good communication skills to work effectively with team members and clients.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred:
Previous experience working in an audit firm or tax advisory firm.
Exposure to handling audits or tax assessments.
Knowledge of other areas of indirect taxation or accounting standards.
