Job Title: Audio Visual Commissioning Engineer
Job Description:
The Audio Visual (AV) Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for the successful commissioning, testing, and final integration of audio-visual systems. The individual will ensure that all AV systems are fully operational, optimized, and compliant with project specifications, delivering high-quality results for end-users.
Job Location : Muscat Oman .
Key Responsibilities:
- Commissioning of AV systems, including video conferencing, control systems, projectors, digital signage, sound reinforcement systems, video walls, and integrated collaboration systems.
- Perform system testing and calibration to meet quality standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues to ensure system functionality.
- Program, configure, and fine-tune AV control systems (e.g., Crestron, AMX, Extron) and DSP systems (e.g., QSC, Biamp, BSS).
- Collaborate with installation teams to oversee proper installation of AV equipment and verify wiring integrity.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and best practices, including audio quality, visual performance, and network stability.
- Provide system documentation, including as-built drawings, wiring diagrams, and commissioning reports.
- Train clients on system operation, including best practices for maintenance and use.
- Work closely with project managers, AV designers, and clients to meet project timelines and specifications.
- Participate in system integration testing, verifying full operation of AV systems with other building systems such as lighting, HVAC, and security.
- Stay updated on emerging AV technologies and industry trends to provide the best solutions for clients.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Degree or diploma in electronics, audio engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in AV system commissioning, installation, or service engineering.
- Strong understanding of AV systems, including video, audio, networking, and control systems.
- Proficient in programming AV control systems (Crestron, AMX, Extron) and DSP systems (QSC, Biamp, etc.).
- Familiarity with video conferencing systems (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex) and their integration.
- Ability to interpret and create AV system designs, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex AV systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals and IP-based AV systems.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites and work flexible hours as needed.
Certifications (Preferred):
- CTS (Certified Technology Specialist)
- Crestron, AMX, or Extron programming certifications
- Dante certification for audio networking
- QSC Q-SYS certification or Biamp Tesira certification
Work Environment:
- Site-based work at client locations with occasional office-based duties.
- Work may involve lifting heavy AV equipment, using ladders, and working in confined spaces.
- Must be able to handle high-pressure environments with tight project deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electronics, audio engineering, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the commissioning and configuration of professional AV systems.
- Strong expertise in AV system design, installation, and commissioning with hands-on experience in commercial environments.
- Advanced knowledge of AV control systems programming (Crestron, AMX, Extron), audio DSP systems (QSC Q-SYS, Biamp Tesira), and video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex).
- Proficient in IP-based AV systems, networking concepts, and AV-over-IP solutions (Dante, NDI).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex AV systems under tight project timelines.
- Strong ability to interpret technical documentation such as wiring schematics, floor plans, and system diagrams.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills with the ability to train non-technical users on AV system operation.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with experience coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within scope.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities, and ensuring quality execution.
