Position Overview:
The Assistant Manager / Manager Plant Operations will act as the second in command to the Plant Head, overseeing the daily operations across multiple production work sections. This role requires a professional with strong technical skills in SS sheet metal machining, fabrication, and welded assemblies/sub-assemblies, particularly TIG welding, along with proficiency in production planning, quality assurance, and process optimization. The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex manufacturing operations and leading teams to maintain efficiency and uphold stringent quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Production Management:
Supervise day-to-day production activities across all work sections, including Domestic Water Purifiers, Control Panel Assembly and Testing, Machine Shop, Weld Shop, Polishing, Final Assembly, Packing, and Dispatch.
Oversee the production and assembly of SS sheet metal components, including welded assemblies and sub-assemblies, ensuring alignment with quality and design specifications.
Lead daily production planning based on MRP and coordinate with supervisors to ensure adherence to schedules and efficient workflow.
Manage production orders and goods issues, ensuring timely and accurate SAP entries for seamless production tracking.
2.Quality Assurance:
Supervise incoming, in-process, and final inspections, maintaining strict quality control over SS components and welded assemblies.
Identify and address quality issues through root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to maintain high standards.
Prepare for and lead customer and third-party audits, showcasing quality processes and documentation to meet regulatory and customer expectations.
3.Process Knowledge:
Handle daily processes in TIG welding and SS sheet metal machining, fabrication, and assembly processes, with a focus on welded assemblies and sub-assemblies.
Offer guidance for welding, machining, and assembly issues, including robotic welding and CNC operations, to enhance efficiency and minimize downtime.
4.Planning & Workflow Optimization:
Collaborate with the Plant Head and other departments to design and implement operational plans that align with production targets.
Optimize resource allocation, material flow, and workflow across production and assembly sections to ensure smooth operations.
5.Systems & Reporting:
Utilize SAP for tracking production orders, material movements, and inventory management, ensuring accurate data and timely entries.
Apply advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting of production metrics, quality outcomes, and overall efficiency.
6.Leadership & Team Development:
Lead and mentor production teams, promoting a culture focused on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Conduct training sessions, oversee performance management, and drive team engagement to enhance productivity and quality standards.
Key Skills, Qualification & Experience:
Strong leadership and organizational skills with an ability to drive productivity and quality.
Extensive technical knowledge in TIG welding, SS sheet metal machining, fabrication, and assembly processes, including robotic welding and CNC operations.
Proficiency in SAP for production and inventory management.
Advanced Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
Experience in managing customer and third-party audits.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
15-20 years of relevant experience in manufacturing operations, specifically in SS sheet metal machining, welded assemblies, and fabrication.
Prior experience in similar industry, pharma machinery, industrial machinery required.
