How You Will Contribute:

Reporting to the Manager, Field Systems Engineering Operations, as a Senior Associate, Field System Engineering operations, you will work performing Sales Engineer (SE) activities as part of Global System Engineering Support Center to support Global customer projects & bid activity.You will use your technical knowledge and expertise to partner with and support different Regional Sales Engineering teams in the region to develop high value networking proposals that accurately address specific customer technical needs. You'll be actively involved in all pre-sales activities, such as customer presentations and demonstrations to articulate use-cases, providing technical consultancy, and working on RFx with the objective of fostering the sales cycle.

  • Sales engineering activities on Ciena's NMS, SDN and Tool portfolios (NAVIGATOR NCS, NAVIGATOR NCS Applications & Adaptive IP Apps) such as Customer presentations, Demos, RFP responses and internal collaboration.
  • Develop and present internal and/or external knowledge transfer sessions explaining the architecture, capabilities, limitations, advantages for technologies, etc from the standpoint of pre-sales and Business Development.
  • Engage with target customers, assess their needs/requirements and work with the Accounts and SE team to develop a solution offering best suited for Ciena's customer needs.
  • Work on various RFx deliverables such as Statement of Compliance, Technical Solution Documentation, etc.
  • Accountable for the development of custom presentations and demonstration of use-cases and value to prospective customers and configure and setup labs to showcase different product features and functionalities.
  • Collect the latest features in solutions and technologies and identify relevant insights to be shared with the Product Line Management and SE leadership teams.
  • Partner with different technical teams to address specific validation and consulting requirements, achieving the best fit for our customers.

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electronics/Communication Engineering or equivalent
  • 0-4 years of experience in the telecommunications industry with a particular focus on System/Sales Engineering operations.
  • Detailed Working knowledge of Ciena Management solutions will be a strong asset.
  • Knowledge in Photonic and Layer-1 switching technologies such as DWDM technologies (such as ROADM & wavelength management), OTN & Control Plane etc.
  • Hands-on experience in NMS/SDN for Layer-0 Photonic & Layer-1 switching like service management, FCAPS etc.
  • Hands-on experience in automation with Open APIs (such as REST-API, WebSocket, T-API, NETCONF & gRPC/gNMI) using Python scripting, third-party tools and Postman.
  • Hands-on experience in Linux Operating Systems, Docker and Container-based deployment
  • Exposure to Microservice Architecture based platforms and REST-based APIs
  • Knowledge of Core/Metro Transport, Core/Metro Switching, Ethernet Transport/Switching and Packet Optical Networking
  • Good to know about Database (Cassandra, MySQL), Kafka messaging services and Monitoring Technologies (Nagios, Grafana)
  • Good to know of Web Sockets, Authentication, and Web Security

Desired Skills:

  • Must be a fast learner, quickly incorporating technical knowledge on both technologies and tools.
  • Must show a constant positive attitude and eagerness to take any kind of tasks to develop skills and specialization through repetition.
