Currie & Brown is currently looking for senior / lead quantity surveyor for our Thailand s office. The successful candidate will contribute to the provision of quantity surveying services to Currie & Brown s clients.
Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:
- Prepare and managing Preliminary Cost Advice / Project Feasibility Study / Cost Planning / Budget Establishment including but not limited to:
- Assist in establishing a client s requirements and undertake feasibility studies
- Assist, prepare and managing the required design proposal and client s requirement and reflex into the cost advise for entire project including civil, structure, architecture, interior, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other specialist works
- Prepare and manage the Pre-Contract Stage including but not limited to:
- Advise on a procurement strategy including identify commercial risks and help develop suitable responses including involve in value engineering exercise
- Prepare tender documents including obtaining tender information, prepare bills of quantities including measurement, managing tender queries
- Pre-qualification of tenderers source and identify suitable tenderers, evaluation and recommendation of tenderers to participate in tender as per tender programme.
- Obtaining and following up on quotations from main contractors, subcontractors & suppliers for Pre-Tender Estimate / Cost Study / Cost Advise purpose
- Prepare and analysis submitted quotations from contractors, subcontractors & suppliers including understanding and identify the cost
- Assist, prepare and managing in coordination of procurement exercise, which include calling of tender, tender report including tender comparison / tender analysis, attend tender interview, negotiate and finalise award
- Review and check tender submissions for accuracy, level of pricing, advise on errors and qualifications and, if necessary, negotiate the offers
- Review and rationalization of unit rates and quantity
- Assist, prepare and compiling contract documents including involve / advice on use and/or amendments of a standard form of contract or contribute to the drafting of particular requirements in association with the clients legal adviser
- Prepare and manage the Post-Contract Stage including but not limited to:
- Prepare interim payment certificates including carry out site valuation and assessment of contractor payment application
- Manage and monitoring project costs in line with the approved budget including regularly issue financial report to Client that show current project cost including incorporate all authorized / estimated change order which shall indicate anticipated project final cost
- Manage in the assessment of variations and the financial aspects of the project change control process including negotiate with contractor and recommend adjustment to the contract sum which reflect into project financial report
- Co-ordinating with the project team in relation to project issues, especially cost and contract matters
- Attending site valuations, joint site measurements, site meetings and/or client/consultant meetings
- Assisting where possible on a range of legal and contractual issues
- Manage on the settlement of final account
- Other but not limited to:
- Take a leading role in setting team objectives and priorities, working as a proactive team player
- Attending project / design meeting including responding on input / output of project requirement
- Effective communication ensuring all information is available for successful completion of projects, liaise with other team member / client to ensure efficient financial control resulting in projects being cost effective
- Contributes to team and project performance by collaboration and effective communication
- Add to team effort by accomplishing other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Degree in quantity surveying, civil, structure, architectural, mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years technical delivery experience gained within a global construction consultancy, with exposure to multiple projects; experience on the contractor and/or developer side will also be considered
- Experience in the data centre sector would be seen as an advantage.
- Well-developed technical knowledge and skill, for example preparing tender documents, estimates and cost plans, measurement from drawings, construction technology, contract and law etc
- Understand and familiar with professional practice and contract administration process
- Passionate about quantity surveying and furthering your career with a leading construction consultancy
- Excellent client-facing and communication skills
- Ability to meet tight deadline, work under pressure, work independently with minimal supervision
- Good IT skills (Skill and experience user of construction software seen as advantage ie BIM, Cost X or equivalent)
- Clear and analytical approach to problem solving a strong decision-making ability
