Job Description

Purpose of the position

  • The purpose of this role is to ensure that all customer and medical installation projects are designed and installed according to the standard best practices in Linde with safety and reliability as utmost priority. Lead and grow the Design and Planning team in the Cluster.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost optimization in project design, work processes and people capabilities to maximize business profits.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Develop and review medical gas systems/piping engineering designs, drawings, and specifications, ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and applicable codes.
  • Design the respective supply system, based on an agreed supply mode with Internal Sales Team in the Cluster
  • Coordinate with Internal Sales Team and customers to seek clarification and understanding of technical requirements
  • Review Bid/Tender Documents and ascertain client's requirements
  • Prepare the respective technical proposal, drawings (such as P&ID, GA drawings, layout drawings, and isometric drawings), and technical presentation
  • Prepare costing sheet for Internal Sales Team, for them to work out the commercial proposal
  • Conduct material/contractor sourcing for costing and proposal preparation, working closely with the Buyers in the Cluster to come out with the most cost-competitive design
  • Prepare Bid Documents and conduct RFQ to potential suppliers/contractors.
  • Evaluate the technical & commercial submission of contractors and material suppliers.
  • Take the lead in all project presales activities, including engineering, design calculation, proposal preparation, attending technical clarification meetings, costing/ budgeting, resources/ manpower allocation, equipment selection and procurement, attending kick-off meeting and project progress/review meeting and etc.
  • Ensure the design of the system is in compliance with Linde Standards, and applicable codes (HTM or NFPA in case of MES)/ accepted engineering practices
  • Provide engineering and technical support to other team members
  • Conduct audit on completed installation if there is such business requirement in the future

  • Deliver - co-ordination on tanks installation projects on timeliness and site location
  • Local procurement - frame agreements for critical vendors. Make purchases for materials, assets and services

Required key skills (functional/technical):

  • Good background in safety management with knowledge of hazards involved in operation and maintenance of medical gas equipment and installations
  • knowledge of ASU / HYCO / CO2 processes including the associated hazards
  • knowledge of project management & controlling tools and Work processes
  • Familiarity with HTM/EIGA and other equivalent National & International codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with Local statutory regulations (eg operating licensing, labor laws etc)
  • Setting up & implementation of Work processes
  • Business Acumen
  • Understanding of financial processes (budgeting, investment planning, accounting etc)

Required qualifications/experience:

  • Graduate in Mechanical Engineering with 6-8 years of overall experience in equipment & Piping engineering/designs.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of industrial experience in the field of Project engineer and planning works particularly in medical gas pipeline supply systems
  • Certified courses in Piping design tools AutoCAD will be added advantage.
