Job Summary :
This role will be responsible for all environmental commodity settlements, accounting, reconciliation, analysis and related reporting.
Responsibilities:
Reconcile environmental products (renewable energy credits/carbon credits) activity against counterparty invoices and registries using standard energy trade risk management (ETRM) software.
Coordinate with Treasury and Accounts Payable for the settlement of invoices.
Develop, maintain and update compliance and voluntary environmental markets inventory valuation model. Reconcile the model against outside databases (Registries) and interdepartmental accounts from Risk and Supply Teams.
Coordinate with Supply and Risk to properly reconcile and account for compliance and voluntary green (REC and Carbon) retirements.
Update and maintain cashflow forecast for environmental commodity costs.
Support month-end environmental products gross margin accounting and reporting close process.
Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries as necessary.
Prepare monthly account reconciliation in accordance with Just Energy s balance sheet integrity practice.
Interact with external counterparties to resolve discrepancies.
Coordinate with internal partners as required including Regulatory, Risk, Supply and Finance.
Support ad-hoc analysis requests.
Work with other teams across the Company to implement and improve processes and systems supporting the activities above.
Support internal and external audit requests.
Work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
Qualifications:
7-10 years of related business experience, preferably within the renewable energy or retail energy industries, with a strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Detail oriented and proactive in their responsibilities
Flexible/adaptable to change and a fast learner
Ability to work independently as well as function effectively in a team environment
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of leadership.
Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to present findings to multiple levels within our organization, while also maintaining a self-starting mindset.
Maintain SOX internal control processes
Working knowledge of GAAP; history of adopting accounting changes preferred
Years of Experience:
7-10 years of experience required
Education:
Undergraduate degree Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university; Master s in accounting, finance or business administration a plus.
Technology Requirements:
Advanced Microsoft Excel experience
Moderate to Advanced SQL experience
Previous experience with Great Plains is preferred, but not required
Working knowledge of ETRM/CTRM systems; EKA experience preferred
Familiar with REC and Carbon Registries
