TheRole: Associate Director - Software Engineering

The Team: Viper Project (RSCTA) is a new initiative in the making to create an industrialized data aggregation capability that will enable our entity due-diligence solutions to become world leading by enriching the entity data - Golden Record. This will help us expand in our existing FS client ecosystem and create revenue synergies across the businesses. This growth will be amplified by connectivity into the ESG, Supply Chain and Ratings businesses as well. This project will be having a very high visibility with senior management due to the high complexity of the problem we are trying to solve. To begin with this would be a green field project (a project that lacks constraints imposed by prior work) with further phases becoming more streamlined over a period. This will provide lot of learning opportunities to work on latest technologies like Cloud Native Architecture / Microservices / Graph DB etc. The team will be working right from scratch to design , architect and build the solution. We are looking for suitable candidates with similar capabilities and experience to work on large datasets and latest cutting-edge technologies to build this capability solution.

Position Summary

We are looking for an Associate Director (Java) to join the development team to design and implement the next generation of features for the application as well as support clients in their implementation phase. The role offers extensive business and technical challenges in a highly dynamic and collaborative work environment. A passion for quality and a sense of pride in your work are an absolute must for the role. We work in niche business domain is highly complex, and an interest in the business domain is a necessity for the role. The role offers the right candidate opportunities to take ownership of components within the system.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the implementation (estimation, breakdown of tasks, architect solutions) for business functional specifications through the full software development life cycle
  • Hands on approach to understand and implement the use cases as per specifications provided by business team
  • Ownership of maintenance and support issues as they come up during the project life cycle pre and post go-live. Provide technical assistance to other teams support, QA, business analysis.
  • Lead a team of 10-12 development engineers and work with them to ensure a successful delivery of the product in a defined timeline.
  • Ability to work with remote team in a geographically distributed development model.
  • Evaluate, apply & adoption of new technologies and tools within the Development team and across the organization to provide productivity, efficiency, and scalability benefits.
  • Collaborate and share technical and business knowledge to members of the Development and wider organization.
  • Agent of constant improvement within development and across organization.
  • Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Open minded, flexible, and willing to adapt to changing situations
  • Focused on quality delivery of software
  • Able to identify priority, dependency and overcome those with minimum guidance
  • Able to work in the shift of 12 PM 9 PM.

What We're Looking For

Education and Experience:

  • B Tech./ M Tech / MCA degree in an IT/ Computer Science or related course is a prerequisite
  • At least 12+ years of Professional experience working on Java platforms/applications & Angular framework

Management Requirements

  • Strong inter-personal skills required with ability to multitask and prioritize work

Commercial Awareness

  • Basic understanding of Financial Markets desirable.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • Strong coding experience of 12+ years in JAVA 7 (or above) /J2EE for product development.
  • Strong Understanding of design and architecture of the application
  • Hands on experience in RDBMS and proficient in PL/SQL are must. Good knowledge of Oracle database.
  • Hands on experience in Spring/Restful Web Services is a must.
  • Hands on experience in web technologies and JavaScript based frameworks
  • Strong Experience with Object Oriented JavaScript / jQuery, HTML/ CSS, XML is a must.
  • Hands on experience in messaging framework (ActiveMQ or similar frameworks) is a must.
  • Hands on experience in cloud infrastructure-based product is a desirable.
  • Knowledge of architecture principles is a must.
  • Should understand the business problems and requirement and should be able to convert those into solutions.
  • Should understand non-functional like performance, scalability etc. aspect of the application.
  • Be pro-active and creative in answering business requirements
  • Able to manage dependencies and timely manage priority
  • Develop software of highly quality and in time efficient manner
  • Able to write JUnit Test Cases like Karma/Jasmine and Build Tool like Webpack.

Add-ons

  • Conceptual/Working knowledge of AWS
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and methodology is desirable.
  • Comfortable working with both UNIX/Linux and Windows environments
  • Hands on experience with build tools like Maven/Ant & Version Control systems like SVN & GIT/GITLAB
  • Experience working in Agile environment is desirable
