Role & Responsibilities

  • Payroll Management for India: Overseeing accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees and contractor resources, managing time and absence integration into attendance management and subsequent impact on payroll, managing gift taxation policy. Driving the right employee experience in alignment with the R1 culture and values.
  • Managing and ensuring statutory compliance adherence for R1 India: Ensuring compliance for R1 with respect to different state specific laws related to payroll and employment taxes. Collaborating with HR/Finance/Tax etc. team as may be deemed necessary
  • Background Verification process run: BGV is a critical process for success of R1 Operations. Managing the process seamlessly within the defined TAT and guidelines laid down for the organization is imperative.
  • MIS Management for Employee Services Team: Since HR Operations and Payroll both functions are transaction heavy with zero tolerance for scope of error or misses due to high impact and visibility the role demands strong governance and auditing principles
  • Vendor Engagement and Management: As a team we engage with vendors for providing BGV services, payroll execution and statutory filing, tracking and evaluating statutory laws applicable for the organization and hire contractual workforce where deemed fit to deliver the BAU deliverables. This role will manage the relationship with the stakeholders and assure appropriate level of engagement to have seamless delivery for R1.

Ideal Candidate

  • Passion for managing data and driving analysis and governance within the team
  • Extensive experience in running payroll process for 10,000+ employee base across India and in depth understanding of applicable statutory compliances and norms
  • Understanding of Background verification processes and associated compliances to be able to partner strategically
  • Understanding of a HRIS tool and bent towards technology. Workday knowledge is preferred but not mandatory
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills

Mandatory Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 14 years of experience as an HR professional, with at least the last 5 years specializing in Payroll management, Statutory compliance, and HR Operations, including handling background verification processes and vendor management.
  • Strong expertise in governance, labor laws, and state-specific statutory laws in India is required.
  • Must have a solid understanding of data analysis, MIS management, and reporting, with a focus on governance and auditing principles within HR operations.
  • Recent experience should be in a large company with a minimum of 10,000 employees, overseeing a PAN India payroll headcount of 10,000-12,000.
  • A Bachelor's degree in any discipline is mandatory; an MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification in HR is preferred.
