Job Purpose
We are actively seeking an accomplished leader of Cloud data platforms to assume the role of Associate Director Data Engineering and Operations, with a focus on the Commercial Global Data Platforms and Analytics.
As the Associate Director Data Engineering and Operations Leader in GSK, your role will directly impact the achievement of Commercial Pharma and Pharma Tech objectives. This role will directly report to Sr. Director Engineering & Analytics, Analytics & Technology organization.
As an engineering and operations leader, you will help the Commercial Digital and Tech and Digital Fuel organizations to embrace and adopt modern ways of data engineering, data management, ingestion and serving out analytics in support Data Reporting, Analytics and Science. People management and superior technical and engineering skills are essential to the success of the role. The Successful candidate with support the management of a diverse team of Data Engineers and Data Analysts within the GCC.
Management & Leadership
Ensure the operations and engineering teams are staffed appropriately for development and support of global teams and projects.
Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and support in their career growth.
Provide expertise in optimizing operations and engineering functions by ensuring platform availability, implementing effective process and platform design, improving platform and cloud cost management and meeting SLAs that align to market needs.
Collaborate with Engineering and Data Science counterparts and support GENAI/ML data products by providing scalable cognitive AI platforms, ML Ops services and data platforms.
Data Operations - Delivery Management
Create and maintain SOPs and Smart Controls for business/IT processes related to operations and engineering activities.
Managing release cycles for data/platform enhancements of commercial data processes.
Lead integrations between components for internal and external systems.
Focus and drive efficiencies and automation to enhance business processes designed to improve operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
Manage service levels and provide support for end-to-end cloud native data platform/data lakehouse solutions for the organization.
Data Engineering - Delivery Management
Partner with Data Science teams and support GENAI/ML data products by providing scalable cognitive AI platforms, ML Ops services and data platforms.
Ensure data models not only optimize technical performance but also meet business reporting and analytics needs.
Manage and lead the engineering team in design and build of cloud native data platform/data lakehouse solutions.
Lead the continuous improvement in of ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into Azure data repositories for efficiency, cost management and scale.
Implement data security and compliance measures to protect sensitive information and ensure regulatory requirements are met.
Data Stewardship
Identify and mitigate any data integrity risks through rigorous enforcing of the data quality and governance.
Monitor defined business rules for data sets throughout their lifecycle and address operational issues related to data quality, across various source systems and vendors.
Pipeline maintenance and performance tuning.
Oversee platform access and administration functions.
Why you
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science with overall experience is 15+ years of experience is 5+ years of professional experience in Azure Cloud Solution Architecture, Data Engineering, and data architecture.
Experience leading Cloud operations/Platform, data engineering and data management teams.
Experience in design and build of technical solutions for cloud-centric service, hosting solutions based on industry standards using IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS capabilities.
Experience with E2E architecture of unified data platform covering all the aspect of data lifecycle starting from Data Ingestion, Transformation, Serve and consumption.
Experience in Databricks workspaces, Databricks notebooks, Job clusters, Delta Lake, Databricks Lakehouse and Unity catalog.
Experience with the Azure Services and Data components: Container based solutions, Microservices, Streaming Solutions, Python & Spark Compute, Spark SQL, Azure Integration services, and ingestion tools such as ADF, Snowflake, ADL, and GenAI Cognitive capabilities.
Proven background on implanting DevOps and MLOps pipelines
Expertise in Cloud Cost management and implementing best practices.
Hands-on experience in full life cycle of software development or methodology using AgileScrum/Kanban etc; requirements analysis, design, development testing and implementation.
Strong experience in problem-solving with excellent verbal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in computer science, Data Science or relevant field is preferred.
Architecture Strategy and Complex / End-to-End full stack solution development
Azure Cloud / Data Bricks Certification
Pharmaceutical or Healthcare experience
