- Key Responsibilities and Outcomes
Delivery Management:
Using high resolution aerial imagery in online solar design software to create an accurate 2D outline of a customer's house.
Creating an accurate 3-D Model of the house from a 2-D outline of the customer's house using the LIDAR function in solar design software.
Modelling surrounding trees, obstruction and building which may affect the solar PV production values.
Creating an aesthetic preliminary layout based on the customer's annual consumption and other local jurisdictional requirements.
Good knowledge of AHJ and Utility Design Requirements.
Develop and prepare layout drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, specifications sheets, and other data.
Ensure compliance with approved design standards in own work to provide quality design.
Documenting all notes, engineering changes, customer requests, etc.
Publish layouts that are easily understood.
Team Mentorship:
_Guidance and Training: _Provide hands-on guidance and training to junior team members in the solar design domain. This includes imparting knowledge on design best practices, software proficiency, and industry standards. Encourage skill development and foster a culture of continuous learning among team members.
_Performance Management_: Effectively evaluate team performance, provide constructive feedback, and implement performance improvement plans as needed. Recognize and reward achievements.
_Conflict Resolution: _Handle interpersonal conflicts and challenges within the team professionally and efficiently, fostering a collaborative and harmonious work environment.
_Knowledge Sharing: _Encourage knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration within the team to maximize collective expertise and productivity.
_Goal Alignment: _Ensure that team members are aligned with project and company objectives, and their efforts contribute to the overall success of the organization.
Project Oversight:
_Quality Assurance: _Ensure the highest level of design quality and accuracy in all solar projects. This involves meticulously reviewing and validating layouts, and technical documentation to guarantee compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines.
_Timeline Management: _Oversee project timelines and milestones, meticulously tracking progress and ensuring that projects stay on schedule. Proactively identify potential delays and implement effective strategies to mitigate them, keeping projects running smoothly and efficiently.
_Resource Allocation: _Efficiently allocate resources, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to optimize project outcomes. Work closely with cross-functional teams to coordinate project tasks and ensure that resources are utilized effectively to meet project objectives within budget constraints.
- Qualifications: Education, Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Behaviour) and Experience
o (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil), Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil).
o Essential familiarity with Solar Design specific to the US region.
o Capability to oversee multiple projects concurrently.
o Competence in collaborating with external clients throughout project implementation will provide a valuable edge.
o Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
o Demonstrated competency with AutoCAD and/or other CAD-based software platforms, backed by 3+ years of hands-on experience.
o Preferably, prior involvement in Solar PV layout design or a closely related field, reflecting a solid foundation in this domain.
o Demonstrated management of teams comprising a minimum of 6+ members.
