Job Description

Role Summary

WSP India is currently seeking for a dynamic resource for the Team Lead / Head position for our Bridges group in Bengaluru. The ideal candidate should be ambitious, proactive and demonstrate technical and managerial leadership skills for this role. This position will give the successful applicant the opportunity to lead a team with multi-disciplinary skills; The selected team lead will work alongside our Canadian Managers (Eastern; Quebec and Western Canada) and the local Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) lead on the technical outputs of the team, on a variety of projects including design-bid build and alternative-delivery projects. The position will report to the T&I lead in iCRC.

Responsibilities

Project management, technical leadership and timely delivery of technical outputs from inception to completion with a range of internal colleagues including:

  • Act as the face of the India-based T&I Canada iCRC Bridges team
  • Local health and safety, welfare, risk, information security, and assessment/compliance
  • Interfacing with multi-disciplinary project teams; program and financial management
  • Provide highly visible, inspirational leadership and direction for the iCRC Bridges team and ensuring that it is aligned with the wider Canada business
  • Mentoring team members towards professional accreditation or equivalent
  • Carry out and report on staff appraisals and performance development reviews
  • Recruitment to achieve budgeted and programmed team growth
  • Monitor and review team capability in the use of the required standards, processes and software tools and, with technical colleagues, identify training required
  • Identify opportunities to upskill existing technical resources or recruit new capabilities to deliver additional services or enhance existing ones
  • Ensuring that the Business Management System (BMS) is implemented and maintained
  • Seek regular feedback on team performances, ensure criticisms are positively converted into opportunities for improvement
  • Develop / maintain excellent relationships ensuring repeat business and client satisfaction, internally and externally
  • Contribute to the design of operational processes, systems, quality measurement processes and achievement of KPIs
  • Ensure process and governance such that all projects comply with Health and Safety, CDM and Quality Assurance Standards.
  • Carry out audits of adherence to WSP India Management and Quality processes and implement corrective measures where required
  • Occasional travel Intercountry and international based on project/team requirements

Essential Skills

Key Competencies / Skills / Qualifications

  • You should be able to demonstrate a proven working knowledge of the various Provinces across Canada in relation to Transportation & infrastructure design, related works projects and experience of at least 5 years in Canada projects.
  • Technical proficiency with finite element programming such as CSIBridge, Sofistik, and MIDAS Civil.
  • Solid understanding of Transportation standards and design practices for the provinces of BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec and Ontario are an asset.
  • Track record of senior technical experience in multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication, internal client handling, interpersonal skills and listening skills with the ability to influence and interact with people
  • Comfortable leading internal engineering discussions and the experience and ability to understand, evaluate and explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical professionals
  • Technical manager with management acumen and strong leadership skills
  • .English. written, spoken, mandatory.

  • Effective time management
  • Ability to communicate occasionally in French would be an asset

Qualifications

  • Educated to Bachelor / Master's degree level in Civil Engineering/Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered/Professional Engineer status of a recognised professional institution. (e.g. PE, P.Eng. / C.Eng.) or demonstrating progression towards achieving or ability to acquire Professional Engineer Licence with any of the Canadian Provinces.
  • Seasoned professional with at least 15 years diverse experience in infrastructure design, project management, business development and project delivery or in leadership in a consulting engineering environment.
