As an Associate Director of Production Support within the Chief Data Office, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our data platforms and services. You will lead a team dedicated to supporting our data-driven initiatives, ensuring that our data infrastructure operates seamlessly to support strategic decision-making and operational excellence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategy: Lead a team of production support engineers and specialists focused on the operational health of data platforms and services. Develop and implement strategies to enhance system reliability, performance, and efficiency.
- Incident Management: Oversee the rapid resolution of data-related incidents and problems. Ensure a proactive approach to incident prevention through continuous monitoring and analysis of system performance and health.
- Service Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of our data services. Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to implement best practices in data management and operations.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as a primary liaison between the CDO and other departments regarding production support matters. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand their data needs and ensure the alignment of support services with business objectives.
- Compliance and Security: Ensure that all data platforms and processes comply with relevant regulations and security standards. Work closely with the security team to implement and maintain robust data protection measures.
- Team Development: Mentor and develop the production support team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning. Ensure the team is equipped with the skills and tools needed to support evolving data technologies and methodologies.
Preferred Skills:
Certifications: Possess relevant certifications in data management, cloud technologies, and IT service management (e.g., ITIL) to validate expertise and adherence to industry standards.
Operational Support Knowledge: Familiarity with Level 1 and Level 2 support processes, ensuring prompt resolution of issues within Service Level Agreements to maintain optimal IT service performance.
Essential Technical Skills
Azure Cloud Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with Azure services, including Containers, Data Lake, Security, and Key Vaults, for effective application and data management in the cloud. Knowledge in utilizing Azure Databricks / snowflake platform management.
Data Governance and Compliance: Proven experience in applying data governance and compliance frameworks to ensure data integrity, availability, and security.
SQL Database Management: Hands-on experience with SQL databases (Oracle, Teradata, Snowflake), encompassing design, maintenance, and optimization.
Linux/Unix Scripting: Expertise in Linux/Unix shell scripting for automation, system administration, and troubleshooting.
Scheduling and Data Integration: Experience with tools like IBM TWS Scheduler, Informatica, and Infoworks for job scheduling, data integration, and ETL processes.
Azure Databricks:
Cloud Migration Experience: Experience in migrating services from on-premises to cloud, highlighting planning, execution, and management capabilities.
Interpersonal and Coordination Skills
Strategic Collaboration: Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments, ensuring IT and business alignment for system stability and quality enhancement through innovation and optimization.
Data Warehousing/Data Lake Oversight: Serve as the primary contact for the production ecosystem, managing data warehousing and lake strategies to support data analysis and reporting requirements.
AI/ML Operational Support: Familiarity with deploying, monitoring, and maintaining AI/ML models in production environments, ensuring their operational efficacy. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ensure 247 operational support to all production practices including holidays and weekends withing stipulated SLA timelines
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Proven knowledge in leading Production support team/ or data operations, in a leadership role.
- Strong technical background in data platform technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark), cloud services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), and data integration tools.
- Proven track record of managing production support in a data-centric environment, with a focus on system reliability, incident management, and service improvement.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
