Job Responsibilities
- To oversee the functioning of the Laboratories and Diagnostics Units and the TDH Morris Child Development Centre.
- To co-ordinate with the respective Department / Unit heads for resolving problems including staff problems, for improving functioning and for putting in place policies.
- To establish a quality improvement program, as required by changing circumstances or as directed by senior authority.
- To coordinate and facilitate Laboratory and Diagnostic Units activities.
- To participate as an ex-officio member in the Laboratory Quality Improvement Committee and to identify opportunities for improvement and assist in the development of performance improvement parameters. (NABL, NABH and ISO)
- To facilitate the formation of departmental performance improvement teams in Laboratories and Diagnostic Units and provide training in performance improvement tools when indicated.
- Incident reporting and action taken
- To review immediate actions taken and written responses to incident reports.
- To ensure that incidents / accidents involving hazardous substances, property damage and occupational injuries have been properly investigated.
- To evaluate incident reports and recommend corrective action to avoid recurrence
- To liaise with other departments and the medical staff regarding the quality of laboratory and diagnostic services provided and to collaborate with the involved departments to investigate and improve areas of concern.
- To monitor the expenditure incurred by the Laboratory and Diagnostics Units.
- To monitor and amend, when required and permitted, the charges levied for Laboratory and Diagnostic services in the hospital.
- To help market KEM Hospital Laboratory and Diagnostic services.
- To verify and authorize the payment of bills related to services provided by outside laboratories.
- To resolve problems related to the functioning of the TDH Morris Centre.
- To ensure that good quality patient services are provided in the TDH-Morris Centre and across all Diagnostic services.
- To supervise the services provided at the Billing counters related to diagnostic, laboratory services and the TDH-Morris Centre.
- To oversee and coordinate the services provided to clients / companies who will avail of the Health Check packages.
- To provide monthly reports about the functioning and the revenue of all the areas under the Diagnostic Manager.
- To respond to queries raised by the Internal Auditors.
- To participate in interdisciplinary performance improvement teams, when formed, to improve the service provided to patients.
- To follow all KEM Hospital policies and procedures and ensure adherence to these policies in the areas administered.
- To perform any other duties assigned by the Medical Director / Medical Administrator.
- Help manpower / personnel requirement and procurement for specific Technical work
