Assistant Manager works with Team members, Consultants, Senoir Consultants, Team Leaders, Managers, Senior Managers, Directors, and Principals in India and the US to manage the workflow and maintain the quality on every task received from US counterparts in multiple practices. Assistant Manager will provide state and local indirect tax consulting services to a diverse client base in various industry sectors. Within this role, you will help grow and expand our sales and use tax recovery space in India by working with US leaders as we expand Ryan India's integration into these types of audits. Possess excellent Communication, Project, and Stakeholder management skills with the ability to work independently and minimum supervision. A strategic planner with proficiency in streamlining business processes, defining continuous improvement processes, accelerating employees strengths, and building powerful teams that can conquer any obstacles.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create a positive team experience
- Develop client work plans and schedules for associated project deliverables
- Maintain process documentation and ensure the engagement teams follows the same
- Support Transaction Tax Team's client operations management and development needs in India
- Ensures team compliance with firm policies, practice guidelines, and standards
- Provide functional support to Team Leads and Team Members as required
- Manage medium to large team, supporting multiple Geographies, managing SLA's and metrics
- Responsible for managing attrition within the defined limits & work on creating a robust succession plan
Client
- Apply indirect tax knowledge across all U.S. states and localities and act as subject matter expert for internal teams
- Review and reconcile client data downloads and identify tax issues to research
- Proficient in using multiple research tools and techniques and able to clearly communicate the legal analysis and findings with appropriate legal citations
- Research, analyze and draft positions on a wide range of tax matters including scope, applicable exemptions, and procedural rules
- Assist with drafting and presenting proposals to existing and target clients
- Responds to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities
- Liaise with the U.S. and India engagement teams on project execution, resource planning, scheduling, India penetration, etc.
- Support technology improvements via automation and other technology solutions
- Responsible for managing the new process/task transitions from the US to India
- Strong experience in utilizing online information on technical accounting and legal services including, but not limited to LexisNexis, Commerce Clearing House (CCH), State Tax Notes, BNA Online, RIA Online, and other Tax Management Software
- Assist with special tax projects on an as-needed basis as part of growth and development

- Drafts filings, such as petitions for redetermination, refund claims, and various other administrative replies

Education And Experience
- Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Business Administrations, Economics, Business or other degree with MBA, MST or JD
- 7- 10 + years of experience in US Taxation (preferably Sales and Use tax)
- Good understanding of Taxation concepts and excellent analytical & problem-solving abilities
- Innovative and critical thinking in driving process improvements and operational cost reduction
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including strong presentation skills)
- Proven work experience in the US sales and use tax domain
- Technically proficient with accounting, analytical, and research skills
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform quality assurance review, prepare procedural documents and metrics as required
- Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced and dynamic environment
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation/research.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has supervisory responsibilities including training employees, assigning work, and checking work for accuracy and completeness. (Note: the role may evolve in future). Responsible to coordinate with multiple teams.
Work Environment
- Current work hours are 2.00 PM to 11.00 PM, IST. Shift change is anticipated depending on US work hours/time zone and business need
- As this role caters directly to internal and external clients of Ryan, work shift flexibility is paramount

- Position requires regular interaction with employees and clients both in-person (when required and feasible) and telephone
