Qualifications: A Master's degree in Sociology/ Anthropology/ Wildlife Sciences/ Life Sciences/ Ecology/ Conservation Biology is essential.
Work Experience
Minimum work experience of 8-9 years required in social surveys, community ecology, demographic studies and human-wildlife conflict mitigation and management.
Key Responsibilities
- The candidate will be responsible for implementation of human-wildlife conflict mitigation related tasks and activities of the project.
- Coordinate with community based institutions and volunteers, Panchayati Raj Institutions, State Forest Department, other government and Non- Government agencies for implementation of activities as per project plan.
- Assist the community in mitigating Human Wildlife Conflicts (HWC), adoption of early warning system, and convergence of government schemes beneficial in addressing HWC in the area.
- Lead study design, data collection and identifying key intervention areas; recording conflict cases attended/ handled.
- Ensure that the Primary Response Teams of local volunteers for human-wildlife conflict mitigation function properly to meet the objectives.
- Data collection & analysis for the project activities.
- Write periodic reports for submission to different stakeholders
- Ensure quality and timely implementation of assigned project activities within stipulated time and budget.
- Maintain high level of professionalism, inclusion, equity, and transparency while implementing activities with the local communities.
- Conduct timely and periodic reviews of project plans and activities and conduct weekly reporting on project activities.
Essential Qualities
- Candidate should have experience working with communities and various stakeholders dealing with social assessment, participatory conservation/ natural resource management, human-wildlife conflict mitigation etc.
- Knowledge of GIS and remote sensing data usage and analysis and working knowledge of local language is essential. 3.Preference will be given to a candidate having working experience in Eastern Ghats/ Odisha.
