Reports to: Vice Chancellor, Ashoka University

Department: Vice Chancellor's Office

Location: Ashoka University Campus, Sonipat, Haryana

Experience (in years): Minimum 8 years, with 5 years in the higher education domain

Nature of work: Full-Time

About the Department: The Vice Chancellor's Office serves as the central hub for leadership, strategic decision-making, and administrative oversight. This office plays a pivotal role in helping to execute the broader vision and direction of Ashoka University. It works closely with the Vice Chancellor to liaise with various offices and departments that oversee academic, student life, administrative, and financial functions. Additionally, it is responsible for central events, important visitors to campus, and statutory requirements. The office fosters collaboration and communication with founders, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external partners.

Role and Responsibilities: This role offers a unique opportunity to support the Vice Chancellor and shape the university's strategic direction. If you are keen on a role in which strategic thinking, policies & processes, and communications are key, then this role is for you.

Strategy & Advisory:

  • Serve as an advisor to the Vice Chancellor, providing insightful analysis and driving strategic initiatives across academics, administration, and student life.
  • Consistently develop an understanding of higher education trends and best practices to support the university's mission.

Communications:

  • Create communications for the Vice Chancellor and the university, ensuring clear and consistent messaging across all channels.

University Ambassador:

  • Represent the Vice Chancellor's Office at key university bodies and liaise with external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within and outside the university.

Student Engagement:

  • Engage with student government, address concerns, and oversee appeals processes to champion student success.
  • Experience working with student populations in a higher education setting is a definite advantage.

Critical Event Manager:

  • Be part of the core team managing unforeseen situations and crafting effective communication strategies during challenging times.
  • Demonstrate the ability to remain calm and collected under pressure.

Eligibility: The ideal candidate for this role would be a strategic thinker, with keen interest and expertise in policies & processes, and communications.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a higher education setting, and overall, a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Master's degree (Master's in relevant fields, such as Education, Public Policy, etc., would be an advantage)

Skill Sets:

  • Proficiency in English language and excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Experience in policy development and implementation
  • Resourceful and diplomatic individual adept at building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Passionate about education and committed to supporting student success
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and mentor team members
