About Directorate of Student Life (DoSL):
The Directorate of Student Life (DoSL) at GITAM (Deemed to be University) aims to build a dynamic and inclusive campus community that contributes to a holistic student experience. To this end, DoSL designs programs and initiatives that can help students understand and appreciate the intricate connection between human life and its socio-cultural fabric. This perspective aims to enrich student relationships, both among themselves and with the world around them.

Position Overview: The Assistant Director holds a crucial role within the Directorate of Student Life at GITAM (Deemed to be University) Hyderabad campus. This position primarily involves administrative duties and demands significant resourcefulness, adaptability, and integrity due to close collaboration with a diverse array of individuals both within and external to the organization.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Program Development and Management:
Assist in the planning, development, and execution of student programs and activities that enhance campus life and student engagement.
Collaborate with student organizations and clubs to plan events and initiatives.
Student Leadership Development:
Facilitate leadership training and development programs for student leaders and organizations.
Provide guidance and support to student government and leadership groups.
Monitor the Student Life Associate (SLA) program and their campus-wide activities.
Student Organization Support:
Advise and mentor student organizations and clubs, helping them with event planning, budgeting, and leadership development.
Assist in the recognition and registration of new student organizations.
Event Planning and Coordination:
Help coordinate and oversee campus events, including orientation programs, workshops, social events, and community service projects.
Ensure that events run smoothly and are well-attended.
Marketing and Communications:
Promote student events and programs through effective marketing and communication strategies. Utilize social media, newsletters, and other channels to reach students.
Execute the multimedia strategy of the Directorate including collateral and social media.
Collaboration with Other Departments:
Work closely with academic affairs, residence life, campus security, and other departments to enhance the overall student experience.
Collaborate on co-curricular initiatives that integrate academic and extracurricular activities.
Data Analysis and Assessment:
Collect and analyse data on student engagement, satisfaction, and outcomes.
Use assessment data to make data-driven decisions and improve programs and services.
Student Conduct and Behaviour:
Assist in the development and enforcement of student conduct policies and procedures.
Participate in conduct hearings and disciplinary processes as needed.
Crisis Response and Emergency Management:
Develop and implement crisis response plans related to student issues and emergencies.
Coordinate with campus security and other departments during crises.
Other administrative responsibilities
Ensure weekly team meetings to plan events, review progress, and share feedback with Director Student Life
Present the bi-weekly campus updates in the DoSL Team Meeting.

Required Competencies:
Proficiency in administrative tasks including project management, record-keeping, budget management, and policy development.
Capability to mentor young adults from diverse backgrounds.
Outstanding communication skills, encompassing both verbal and written, with a keen eye for detail.
Proficient in working harmoniously, liaising, and collaborating with a multifaceted team of professionals.
Skill in managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
Education & Experience: Postgraduate with 10-15+ years with a strong background in leading student life initiatives at a similar level, with proven expertise in overseeing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance student engagement and campus culture.

GITAM (Deemed to be University) established in 1980 as a main-campus based out of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Nestled in between the valley of Eastern Ghats and Bay of Bengal, the location is the most idyllic places in Andhra Pradesh. Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, popularly known as GITAM, was founded in 1980 by an inspired group of eminent intellectuals and industrialists of Andhra Pradesh led by MVVS Murthi, former Member of Parliament and a popular philanthropist.
