For all electricity markets in North America, reconcile invoices for physical power, financial power, and ISO invoices with agreed terms and usage.
Coordinate with internal partners as required including Risk, Supply, Finance, Treasury and Accounts Payable
Interaction with external counterparties directly on any issues pertaining settlements.
Prepare and present the Cashflow statement to the stakeholders.
Enhance and automate the cashflow forecast models.
Grow knowledge of the energy market data we use and take ownership of explaining and resolving the variances in reporting.
Use technology or new processes to reduce manual time needed to perform scheduled tasks.
Support Month End Close (MEC) gross margin and related reporting.
Provide an in-depth analysis of variances between actual and expected gross margin.
Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries as necessary.
Various ad-hoc tasks as requested by Manager.
Provide invoices and supporting documentation as necessary in response to internal/external audits.
Work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
Qualifications:
5-10 years of related business experience, preferably in retail energy sector
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Detail oriented and proactive in their responsibilities
Flexible/adaptable to change and a fast learner
Ability to work independently as well as function effectively in a team environment
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of leadership.
Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to present findings to multiple levels within our organization, while also maintaining a self-starting mindset.
Working knowledge of GAAP; history of adopting accounting changes preferred
Education:
Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university; Master s in Accounting, finance, or business administration a plus.
Chartered Accountant is a plus.
Technology/Business Requirements:
Advanced Microsoft Excel experience
Basic to Moderate SQL experience
Working experience in energy sector is preferred but not mandatory.
