About this role
What is the opportunity
We are recruiting for a newly formed Core Risk Management (Core RM) group, whose objective it is to advance risk management practices at BlackRock, delivering scale and resilience to the risk management platform. This opportunity is to join the
Core Investment Risk Engineering team within Core RM, which will work with BlackRock's centralised technology teams across the globe to ensure the resilience and advancement of the technology architecture on which risk management processes are built.

Core RM is part of the Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) group, which provides independent oversight of BlackRock's fiduciary and enterprise risks globally.
What will you and your team be doing
Stabilizing, re-engineering and maintaining the technology platform on which Core RM will be built and scale will be delivered including projects owned by RQA and those which interface with dependent internal and external systems.
- Understanding risk management processes, the data they use, the architecture they run on.
- Stabilizing, maintaining, and enhancing the risk technology platform and tools with a focus on reducing production issues and streamlining processes.
- Working closely with team leads to develop the next generation of world class investment risk technology and tools.
- Produce high quality, performant, and bug free code
- Analyse and debug complex software issues encountered within the technology landscape to provide solutions.
- Applying quality software engineering practices through all phases of development, through to production.
- Implementing processes to automate and streamline development, support, and technical management.
What do you have
- High emotional ownership - self-starter with high energy, motivation, commitment to excellence and positive approach to business challenges.
- Ability to understand diverse requirements from stakeholders and deliver on the key priorities.
- Willingness to challenge processes, propose solutions and call out issues.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
- 1 - 3 years experience as a Python Developer
- Debug and provide solutions to software bugs within the technology estate
- An excellent team player, understand how to engage with other senior developers on the team
- Strong background in the software engineering using Python programming language.
- Proven experience in creating Python based applications, Micro Services and API(s)
- Skilled at creating high performance complex SQL(s)
- Understanding of NO-SQL Databases is a plus
- B.E. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Solid understanding on Software Development Lifecycle
- Experience with Cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure is a plus.
- Good communication skills
