Job Description

Main Purpose:

The role supports all aspects of monthly financial and management reporting with respect to GST and VAT across all Trafigura business segments i.e. Oil, Non-Ferrous and Refined Metals. The main purpose of this role is to prepare the monthly GST and VAT returns for Trafigura entities registered across various Global locations..

This role will involve learning and taking on the tasks involved in preparation of the GST and VAT returns and would be involved with projects and ad-hoc activities as allocated.

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Strong academic background
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and experience of operating in an international environment, preferably from working for an international company.
  • Self-motivated with a mature attitude. Able to work independently in a professional manner and maintain high standards of integrity.
  • Ability to question and challenge the existing processes, with a view to creating reporting efficiencies and improvements.
  • International outlook. Able to cope with working with staff in different offices worldwide.
  • Drive and determination to obtain understanding of complex, business-driven transactions and report these accurately according to the appropriate accounting standards.
  • Intermediate/advanced Excel skills and a willingness to use technology to complete/ improve daily tasks.
  • Hands on in handling data and data analytics
  • Team player with an enthusiastic approach to fresh challenges

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring timely filing of the GST and VAT returns on a monthly basis.
  • Reconciliation of the Trading ledgers with the Accounting ledgers on a weekly basis.
  • Identifying incorrect tax decisions in the above reports.
  • Discussing the discrepancies with operations and accounting teams and guiding them to the correct tax decisions.
  • Monitoring the receivables from Tax authorities.
  • Ensure proper stock reconciliations.
  • Prepare audit documentation and liaise with external auditors.
