Ashland has an exciting opportunity for an Analyst - Closing & Reporting Accountant to join our EMEA Finance function at our Hyderabad, Telangana. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Life Sciences function. This position will report to Manager.
The Analyst - Closing & Reporting Accountant is responsible for:
The accountant is responsible for the centralized closing tasks for all the APAC, EMEA, and LA entities by Ashland s closing schedule. This position reports to the Accounting supervisor.
Closing activities
- Assist with period close processes. Reconcile systems, discuss with appropriate account owners, and prepare and post journal entries.
- Assist with research, interpretation, and application of accounting standards as it relate to accounting policies and specific business transactions.
- Period-end close responsibilities may require time outside the normal business hours.
- Knowledge of FX revaluation, maintain, and execution of cost center cycles, Tolling fee, and Distribution fee.
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries like Unbilled Revenue, Bad Debt, Profit Center allocations, and various types of re-class journals.
- Perform all ad-hoc activities related to monthly closings.
- Preparation & posting of (corrective) entries that are needed based on monitoring of the financial results during the month and closing under direct supervision.
- Document all supporting documentation related month-end closings.
- FI/CO coordinator for Master data creation/change/deletion in SAP.
Other Activities
- Contact with external and internal auditors
- Identify any Internal controls risks
- Participate in special (ad-hoc) projects
- Prepare SOX documentation
- Update SOPs/work instructions if there is any change or modification in the procedure of the monthly activities
- support other accountants when needed, especially in between closings.
Education/Experience:
- Experience: Minimum of 5-6 years of relevant financial experience in a multinational environment or shared services centre.
- Professional level of knowledge of modern accounting practices.
- Understanding of US GAAP reporting.
- Understanding of the use and application of SAP systems.
- Excellent understanding of the use and application of other I.T. (Excel, Word).
- Experience with cultural diversity.
- Pro-active, hands-on mentality, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and team player.
- Fluent in English (both verbal and written).
