- Address issues at both the corporate level and transaction level (business line) with senior stakeholders
- Develop and maintain in-house expertise on accounting rules that impact our businesses
- Lead discussions and liaise with external auditors, internal audit and regulators
Work with industry groups - Be Subject Matter Expert on new accounting developments such as IFRS 9 PIR related amendments or Primary Financial Statements
- Participate, drive and lead in meetings and comment letters aimed at getting industry views heard by standard setters and regulators
Provide educational services - Issue accounting guidance on key topics
- Provide timely updates and reference materials on IFRS
- Develop and lead in person and video recorded training sessions on technical accounting topics
External monitoring - Monitor developments of IFRS
- Participate in industry groups to discuss and comment on new issues
- Draft comment letters on Exposure Drafts issued by the accounting standard setters and draft DB input to industry comment letters
Internal communications - Prepare timely memos addressing accounting developments, accounting issues and new transactions
- Issue formal Accounting Policies and Bulletins
Main Responsibilities: To be a key member of the AP team, in particularly advising Senior Business, Risk (including Credit/Valuations) and Finance on accounting and related issues - To be one of the professional staff globally providing in-house accounting advice to the Bank
- Position based in London
- Will have significant interaction with other members of the Global AP group to ensure global consistency of policy application
To be a key element of the global and local control environment - The role has important aspects which face outside Finance primarily to the business and risk functions across the Investment Bank and Corporate Bank operating segments as well as to the Corporate & Other segment.
To be a trusted advisor for the Bank on IFRS issues - Act as topic lead for a Financial Instrument related area of policy guidance, such as Financial Instrument Valuation or Derecognition or Hedge Accounting
- As accounting advisor to the business on specific transactions,
- To Finance on both specific transactions and general accounting issues
- Will be responsible for interpreting new pronouncements and the development of related DB policy
- Will attend as well as, where appropriate, lead IASB and industry meetings and roundtables - driving thought leaderships and ensuring that DB s perspective is accurately and succinctly presented with aim of influencing the outcome of the meetings and roundtables.
- Will lead the development and delivery of DB accounting training and materials
Education Standard Bachelors Degree/ Post Graduate
Additional Qualifications ACA, ACCA, CiMA
Experience/Background - Have 12+ years experience post qualification in Technical Accounting role, ideally the financial services sector
- Have an excellent technical knowledge of IFRS
- Have experience of participation in industry technical accounting forums and roundtables
- Have significant experience evaluating structured transactions involving financial instruments
