- As the Accounting and Compliance Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all local compliance activities for Pentland Brands in India as well as playing a role in the global team coordinating key elements of Pentlands Global financials
- Additionally, you will act as a local team leader for GCH employees who currently report to the UK-based Management Accounts team, ensuring seamless collaboration and adherence to global financial processes
- A key aspect of this role involves liaising with local third parties, including banks, auditors, non-executive directors and other external advisors
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with these stakeholders are essential for ensuring smooth financial operations and compliance with regulatory standards
Responsibilities:
Compliance Management:
- Lead person on India regulatory and compliance environment - maintaining a regulatory and compliance checklist
- Ensure compliance with all India legal and financial regulatory and statutory reporting requirements to agreed deadlines including - but not limited to compliances of Company Law, Reserve Bank of India, Foreign Exchange Management Act, Foreign Direct Investments guidelines, Corporate tax, Withholding tax, and Goods & Services Tax (GST)
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations, by maintaining good relationships with, non executive directors, local third party professional advisors and implementing any necessary adjustments to ensure ongoing adherence.
Team Leadership: - Lead and inspire a local team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment in a matrix work environment
- Act as a bridge between the local GCH team and the UK-based Management Accounts team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration between both parties
- Work collaboratively with other finance professionals in India - fostering a one global team approach
Financial Reporting: - Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, providing insights into the financial performance of the India operations.
Reporting requirements can cover multiple stakeholders / types.
Management reporting Group reporting Global Tax reporting Statutory / local reporting - Collaborate with the UK-based team to align reporting standards and ensure consistency and adherence to global standards and protocols
Process Optimization: - Identify opportunities for process improvements within the local finance and compliance functions.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: - Work closely with global and local stakeholders to ensure alignment with corporate financial goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
Liaison with Third Parties: - Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local banks, auditors, and external advisors.
- Collaborate with these third parties to ensure effective financial management and compliance with local regulations.
- Support Global Financial Controller and global finance team with key global finance processes and controls
- Global cashflow actuals reporting and underlying forecasting processes.
- Global cost allocations process
- Global Intercompany reconciliations and monthly monitoring
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Proven experience in accounting and compliance management roles in an international context.
- Thorough understanding of local Indian financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with cross-functional teams at different levels
