Job Description

  • Accountant/Sr Accountant (Canadian/US Accounting)
  • Location: Mohali SAS Nager, PB India (Onsite)
  • Job Type: Full-time (Timing: 4PM to 1 AM IST)

Transcounts is an Accounting Company based in Mohali, PB. We provide back-office support to meet the outsourcing bookkeeping requirements of our clients in Canada and the USA. We believe in effectiveness, innovation, collaboration, and integrity. We aim to grow rapidly in 2024 and the coming years. This position is ideal for someone with a strong accounting background in Canadian and US operations. We are looking for someone who can commit for long-term and wants to grow with the company.

Independently Client Handling

  • Setting up chart of accounts and taxes in accounting software.
  • Arranging bookkeeping data, statements, missing invoices and software accesses from clients (emails only).
  • Transaction processing mainly in QuickBooks/Xero and Dext/Hubdoc along with other related apps.
  • Confident to prepare bank queries (suspense account) for clients and fixing them in QBO/XERO when answered by client.
  • Double checking your work before sharing with clients/manager.
  • Bank, credit card and loan account reconciliations.
  • Inventory & COGS reconciliations along with in-transit inventory and advance payments to suppliers.
  • Financial reports preparation, review and finalization. Preparing KPI dashboard for the most relevant information to the business owners and the management.
  • Preparing year-end financial for the client and year-end package for the tax accountant.
  • Understanding of year end adjustment journal entry and matching final trial balance with the corporate tax return provided by the tax accountant.
  • Understanding taxes payable and return filing timelines for all your clients.
  • Ability to plan and execute the full monthly bookkeeping tasks including requirements from client, steps and final deliverables with timelines.

Day To Day Work And Collaboration

  • Catching up on the emails and checking for any actionable items.
  • 30 minutes of planning + task list review + prioritizing deliverables + collaboration with internal teams.
  • Taking 2 to 3 clients to complete pre-determined tasks/deliverables.
  • Inform your manager on daily progress and deliverables.

Must Have (skills And Knowledge)

  • 1 years of experience working in outsourced accounting in public practice environment.
  • 2 years of strong knowledge of QuickBooks and/or Xero.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken. Handle daily emails for your clients with a communication style that is clear, concise, and empathetic.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment, where you hack everything and always look for creative ways to get the job done.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently on 10-20 clients with minimum guidance and errors.

Nice To Have (skills And Knowledge)

  • Hands-on experience with Canadian or USA Sales Tax, Payroll Tax & Corporate Tax.
  • Hands-on experience with other latest accounting related apps such as Dext, Hubdoc, Plooto, Fathom, ADP, Google Drive, Slack. MS Teams, Zoom Video etc.
  • Hands-on experience with ecommerce accounting apps such as Shopify & Amazon, Square, PayPal, A2X, Cin7, Avalara etc.

  • Good understanding of full cycle bookkeeping and payroll along with other compliance like workers compensation, T4/T4A, EHT, W2/1099 etc.
  • Canadian GST/HST/PST understanding, return preparation, review and filing on CRA portal.

The Interview Process

  • 20-minute phone screening with HR.
  • 30-minute Virtual Interview with the Anmol Singh (Practise Manager).
  • 2 hours of technical test and one-on-one Interview with HR and Anmol Singh.
  • 15-minute Cultural fit interview with Aman Mittal.
