Job Description

We are hiring for our client - EDFLIX.

Overview

The Academic Counselor plays a crucial role in guiding and supporting students throughout their academic journey. This position is integral to the educational institution, fostering students academic, personal, and career development. By assessing students needs, the Academic Counselor provides tailored advice and resources, helping them navigate their educational pathways and make informed decisions about their futures. The counselor works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external resources to enhance students learning experiences, encouraging them to overcome challenges and achieve their academic and career goals. This position demands a personal commitment to student success, a deep understanding of academic programs, and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse student population.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for academic support.
  • Assist students in identifying academic goals and developing plans to achieve them.
  • Evaluate students academic needs and provide tailored guidance.
  • Facilitate workshops on study skills, time management, and career exploration.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of academic programs, policies, and resources.
  • Monitor students academic progress and intervene when necessary.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success initiatives.
  • Advise students on course selection and degree requirements.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support for students facing personal challenges.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate student satisfaction and effectiveness of programs.
  • Facilitate outreach activities to engage underrepresented student populations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies for additional student resources.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions.
  • Organize and participate in orientation programs for new students.
  • Stay current with higher education trends affecting students.

Required Qualifications

  • Any degree.
  • Minimum of 0-6 months of experience in academic advising or counseling.
  • Strong understanding of student development theories and educational systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with data management and student information systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational settings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing environments and student needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities successfully.
  • Passion for education and student success.
